Quilting with Purpose
Community service is at the heart of Tarheel Quilters Guild. Throughout the year, our members use their time, talent, and love of quilting to bring comfort to families, veterans, and neighbors throughout our community. Each year, Tarheel Quilters Guild donates an average of 375 quilts to the Cape Fear Valley Hospital NICU, helping ensure that every family who goes through the NICU receives a handmade quilt. We also donate an average of 150 quilts to the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville every February during Veterans Patient Week, honoring and comforting those who have served.
In addition, our members create and donate approximately 400 placemats each December for the Cumberland County Meals on Wheels program, along with around 100 Christmas stockings for the Cape Fear Valley NICU unit.
Every quilt, placemat, and stocking is made with care. These projects reflect our guild’s mission to preserve the art of quilting while using our stitches to serve others.
